AVOID APPCO MARKETING GROUPS AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is going to be a blog dedicated to the criminals that call themselves Appco. Now if you don't already know, Appco is the leading direct marketing group around. Basically, Appco prey on people to become field representitives of Appco and these Field Representitivies (also known as Customer Service executives, Fundraising executives) go door to door trying to sign people up to charities via a direct debit, least this is my personal experience with the group. Oh and did I mention these FR's make peanuts, working well up to 70-100 hours a week for rubbish pay!

All groups within APPCO operate in similar ways, they are designed to look appealing and trendy, this is what I like to call the lure tactic. They lure you into thinking it's a high flying job, which is guranteed to provide you with a nice cash flow. Now the majority of offices operate in the same way, my personal experience is with the company R1 GLOBAL of NORTHAMPTON, ran by a man called NICK REES. Basically, from my personal experience and from what others from differen't offices have informed me of the way in which the offices operate and are layed out is similar, if not identical.

Firstly you are lured into the job via a promising and a pretty outstading job offer via an online job ad on top job searching websites such as TotalJobs. The Ad promises a stable income of earning upto £250-500 a week, chances to be promoted within days or weeks and a chance to even become a leader of an office yourself. These AD's are misleading as they fail to mention that it's a self employed vacancy, they won't tell you that until moments before you sign on the dotted line. As far as I'm aware it's against job searching sites rules to fail to mention such important information, so straight off you can understand what kind of people these are, liars.

Once you have applied for the job you will usually recieve a response either by email or phone, claiming that you have been "short listed" to attend an interview, you haven't been shortlisted, they will interview ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE, aslong as they can walk and talk to a basic degree they are ideal candidates.  Once you get to the office for an interview, you will notice that atmosphere is that of a cool, relaxed composure, the office I worked in had a TV on in the waiting area, playing the latest music in the charts, this is to make you feel that the work enviroment is chilled out and relaxed basically subtly luring you in. In the interview the owner will then ask personal questions as to why you want to join the company, it's a very fact paced interview and is pretty much done within minutes. The owner the offers you a day of shadowing, this involves going out with a FR from the office, working the doors with them. Now you would think this is the chance for people to see how the company works and would put them off it right? Wrong, this probably only happens on the odd occasion, the owner brain washes you so much, promising good pay, fun working enviroment and so forth, that you look past the long hours and think, I could really do this. Now I'm not going to lie, a small minority of people are succesful and make good money and go places, but I predict this to be around 1 in 100 people, odds are pretty high if you ask me.

Now once the shadowing day is over, the owner then asks how the day went, if you are ideal for the role, and then offers you the job. You then arrange to go back, do some training about how direct marketing is the best and how they basically hound people to sign upto charities. The second and last part of the interview is where you go to the office and get your badge and credentials sorted out. Usually happens on a Friday, so you are in for Monday.

Now you're in the company the first thing you'll notice is the office enviroment. There is a lot of energy, enthusiasm, they even play loud music when training in the morning. The "team leaders" then go over your pitch, and then the morning meeting commences. This is a strange ritual like meeting, where everyone gets in a semi circle, chants, cheers and high fives. A friendly enviroment, yes, but this enviroment only last the morning meeting, which is around 1-2 hours. the other 6-8 hours is on the field.

Once you have perfected your pitch and everything is in order, you are sent into the "field". The owner has marked areas of where your office is based and sends the FR'S to these locations to knock on doors, asking people to sign upto direct debits with Charities. You would usually get to the field around 1 and usually finish around 9pm. Which is against the law, as we were prompted to knock on fresh doors after 8:30pm, which is against the law, but we did it anyway as we were urged to get the sales, on hope of getting money and promotion. Now on the lines of money, you get paid commision for each sale you get, and a percentage of that goes into a security bond, of which you wont get back if you quit, you're suppose to, but it will be turned negative no doubt.

So let's analyize where we are, you are now on the field trying to make sales, working from 10-11am to 9pm on the field, and usually to around 9pm to 11pm at the office, 5-6 days a week, yet you are apparently SELF EMPLOYED. No you're not, you work for the OWNER who orders you were to go, what time you work until and get's irritated by lateness, why though? You are self employed, you work for yourself to try and climb your way up the Appco ladder right? Bull S**t. They are in total control.

NOW THESE ARE ONLY THE EARLY STAGES OF THE APPCO EXPERIENCE, I WILL EXPOSE MORE OF APPCO IF THIS INITIAL BLOG GETS ENOUGH VIEWS FOR ME TO FEEL THAT PEOPLE ARE FINALLY UNDERSTANDING THAT APPCO ARE NOTHING BUT GREEDY CRIMINALS. CHEERS FOR READING GUYS. THERE WILL BE MORE TO COME

  3. well i agree on that all this company liars i was once in granton was promise basic salary end up they still work like comm base i quit first thing because they liar second thing why i stay a month because i see money third thing the same product but they liar on the quata for comm, i feel that if the product is good and reputable is ok to do it, and at less this company black and white is clear, i agree with u that self employe should be free and easy, for my experience with granton compare to a network company i work with in the pass the good thing about this is that they bring the essense of self employe to the company lets say if i work for a sale and marketing company i take basic 1.8k so if i work self employ 90% of the time i will not even make a cent why because simple self employ required discipline to success about order where to go well lets say do you want to stress yourself on go where to get sale or follow where they find for u, if u has personal sale coming in without the lead they give, i believe they won't even want to bother about what you do if you can get sale i believe singapore 99 out of 100 sale manager won't even say a thing even in basic pay job, well lets face the simple true people who join because it looks appealing to be able to success, be it greed for success or money everyone would more or less be a little, for me i leave regular service now no experience no cert no doubt i hate this liars and because of this liars at least i can find another company may be better in they management and at least i can make a living and get experience and persuade a diploma this company may be liars at least they can give a income to the people other organization isolated a hope or a chance i feel we should not just pin point on they short fall, at least now i understand what my navy unit commander always say to us, you can hate me curse me but i know what must be done i will do it because its for your own good when the time come you will thank me. now i see it and it make me powerful.

  4. ah i dunno whats wrong with ppl maybe u had a bad office boss but it basically this if u put effort in and learn how to get ppl to sign up to charity (wich is good for the charity) u get premoted eventually u can train others and earn money from there sales and in the mean time make thousands of pounds for the charity ,
i been working for them for over week and have finally got good at it yes its commission yes its hard work but if it was easy there would be no space for new offices and new people its all based on positive mental attitude wich has been proven to gain results and to be honest i would rather work my nuts off and get paid on my results then work my nuts of for years and get paid for doing more than i should.. if ur negitive it is not the job for you but if you want a career that is great money i choose this job :)

    2. Good luck to you it sounds like you are in the advanced stages of the brain washing all in one week. You mention doing more work than you should in your closing of the statement this is exactly what will happen when doing 80+ hrs a week with 4-5 sales and out of pocket from expences you buy into the optimism of things will turn round with some training etc etc it's human nature but it won't come as it rarely does for many people. There are many ways to advance your career from entry level jobs like job hopping and always going for the next level up and experience out weighs qualifacations Appco is designed with you being a minion to earn for the lords not yourself. Wake up and put your efforts into something to benefit you nor Nicharos or one to many mars bars Cowley

    5. This is the biggest load of bullshit I have ever read.

If anybody has ever witnessed the way a cult operates- Appco is no different. They rely entirely on deceit and constant character assassinations of any 'outsiders' who are not part of the pyramid scheme anymore.

      Delete
    6. Allan, what do you mean it's good for charities? How much of what people give actually really goes to the poor? Why not encourage people to give directly to the poor and needy if that's your real motive- to help people. Do not cheat yourself, face the reality, you have been brainwashed and in chasing money you are losing your soul. Our conscience can be seared and dulled to the point we can have no compunction to do wrong.

  5. I clocked their game after my first "interview" with them, but I was also at the Northampton branch and it's all very, very sketchy. The job advertisement displays an annual salary this is very misleading to those applying for these types of positions: Applications and the initial process should be made clearer! These people are heartless and all they want to do is make money from others efforts not caring about the fact so called "employees" need to also support themselves. This place in Northampton (Formerly R1 Global as stated in the bog)is now called ISIS Advertising LTD which seems to be lead by so called "managing director" Isaac Straun. Stay away from these guys and others that are similar working under the Appco/Cobra Group umbrella at all costs!

  6. This website needs to be much more active. This "company" utilizes the desperation of young impressionable kids and vulnerable backpackers to forge an empire built on lies, broken promises and a fountain of wasted time for all those involved. They consistently blast house music during meetings (a well credited form of brainwashing) that you are not paid to attend that repeat the same fictitious focal points being impulse factors, systems, law of averages ect to pretend to outline a method to make a high income per week. They fail to specify during the recruiting process that "direct sales" is actually door to door on commission, and you are expected to work 12 hours a day for 6 days a week for rubbish pay. For every sale, sign, lead ect that is generated in the field despite a army of contingencies and obstacles preventing you from making these sales, you receive a third of the true value of the sale whilst the owners receive twice as much as what you receive for sitting on their ass in an air conditioned office. This of coarse would all be illegal if you were employed but you are tricked into signing a independent contractors form which isolates you from workplace representation, ohs and other protective legal measures employees enjoy' including minimum wage. Any form of complaint or simple challenge as to the companies method, practice or ideology is classified as being negative or having a bad attitude, much like a cult or fascist dictatorship. Behind every high five, transparent smile materialistic promice and poorly placed electro blasting sales theme there is a lie, misconception and a blatant criminal act that is covered by a long line of red tape, loop holes and a river of pure bull shit. If there is a hell Chris niackos, Paul Burkett and their gang of blood hound snake oil salesman are going straight there.

  10. You've all got serious issues.
Maybe you just had a bad experience yourself. This company offers you a chance to earn as much as you want and the harder you work and learn the more you earn. It's extremely difficult to get any form of job at the moment and commission based jobs are getting more and more popular. The only reason for the crazy hours is so you may speak to the right demographics of people and so you can be intensely trained at the same time. I've made a lot of friends, money and success from this company and hope to have more. Anyone reading this article, I recommend you try it before making your own opinion on whether to work with the company or not. I wasn't naturally great at sales but learned how to make a phenomenal income from the training, and have trained people to do the same. The company isn't for everyone.

    1. I agree. If someone wants to take money by sitting on a chair and waiting when the company close, OK. You have many many such companies. But if you want to succeed in a work, you have the opportunity in appco. Unlikely, many young people, don't have the attitude to seize this opportunity. But it's not right to mislead other young people, that may have the right attitude, to achieve great things.

  13. I walked into an office today. I was already suspicious from the phone call I had from them, no money was mentioned but if I was a proud person it would of puffed me up. Also, Im always suspicious when people try to impress.
The experience was exactly like this blog explained.
    Tips;
Stay observant. The poster on the wall looked as if it had been stored, moved and stuck up a few times.
Nothing was nailed down, the reception desk looked nice but it could easily be moved out into another location.
The apparent Managing Directors office was bare.
A desk and three chairs, no kind of paperwork, or even a pen.
Their was a computer screen that clearly doesn't get used, people need them prominent next to their other office things not awkwardly on the side with no room for a mouse. you would think he used it frequently as a MD that has no other office equipment.
The people were indeed young, 20ish..

You can't con an honest man.
The more your desire for money and power the easier it is to draw you in.
This was Sharq promotions ltd. - part of the appco group. Brighton based.

His questions led me to mention my faith. I believe he thought it made me a gullible and easy target. True faith examines and researches until what you are told is apparent.

  17. I've had a good experience with APPCO in Singapore.
I've already gone past my first month in APPCO, and I've already collected 4 weeks of additional cash bonus for my hard work (yes, I closed plenty of deals already in my Week 0/Week 1 of work), and I'm rewarded for my hard work.

For any job, you have to put in hard work. And for starters, the beginning is always the toughest in any job in the learning curve.
To date, I've earned way more here in APPCO compared to my previous 'basic' marketing job in just my very first month, and I am happy.
My colleagues and seniors/mentors are very encouraging too, and they even help me out when I was struggling to close the sales with customers, and they let me put the sale under my own name instead of theirs.

In my case, I went door to door to the existing telecommunications client's customers and informed them about the new upgrade of service to migrate them over to the new subscription plan. It was simple and direct. If customers chose to remain with their old/current internet/cableTV subscriptions they could choose to, or choose to migrate over to the new and improved platform and subscription.

I made well over $4,500 in commissions and bonuses just in my first month of work.

  20. I don't know if any of you can help me, but my 18 yr old daughter recently moved away from home and has ended up being completely brainwashed by the appco spiel, working 70+ hours a week for under £100 but completely falling for the lies. She doesn't want to open the links I send her to blogs / investigations or to look for another job. She's a bright and usually sensible girl, but somehow she's accepting all the lies, it feels almost cult-like. I've contacted HMRC and Minimum wage helpline, they will only investigate at her request. Has anyone ever reported them? Technically, the position should not be self employed, but nothing will ever be none if the actual victims don't report it!

    1. Ok so you don't work for Appco. Appco is the middle man so to speak they have no say in how the promotion companies are ran. you need to investigate the company she works for you find that the owners live a lifestyle they cant afford themselves, but this isn't all owners. a quick search with the tax man will reveal how much money the business really has. I wouldn't worry to much she will make up her own mind if its for her people normally stay one year as they tell you that's how long it takes to get promoted. when she sees no one moving forward she will move on

I have more experience than anyone of these companies , I was even an owner myself , trust me appco/cobra aka "per dm" take a serious portion of your earnings and then any income you do have left over they expect you to spend it back into the company for their big events and rallys to brainwash thousands of sales reps at the one time. Save yourselves years of wasted years of pain and suffering, run now and never look back.

I was fed up of the lies brainwashing. If you were an owner can you please tell me some facts. Do owners really make the income they say. Or is it all lies like i suspected.

    6. Further to ajduff123 post my daughter has been working for RSJ Global Marketing in Manchester for the past 5 months and I am in completely the same situation. It feels like she has been taken over by some religious cult and brainwashed into believing these lies, she too will not look at all the information on the internet about the Appco Group and the scam they are running. Surely if I can find all this she can, she is a bright, intelligent girl.

She works 70+ hours a week going out at 9.00am and not getting home until 11.00pm 6 days a week for I think about an average of £100 and believes that this is an amazing opportunity and that she will set up her own business within 12 months making her fortune ! She has no life, she has given everything up for this, she has lost her friends, we have a horse I struggled so much to buy for her that she barely sees anymore ! She has become a person I don't know anymore and who I can't trust as she tells me so many lies !

I have brought my daughter up as a single parent and have sacrificed so much sending her to good schools to give her every opportunity in life and it is heartbreaking watching her waste her life chasing these lies.

I too have thought about contacting HMRC etc. as she is classed as self-employed and I can’t see how as she has to go into the office every morning and night and goes out door to door where they tell her to go ? She cannot claim expenses and has to pay for her own travel wherever she goes and telephone to ring in any sales she does make ? The BBC, Daily Mail and The Mirror have all investigated the group and said what a scam they are, how are they still in business preying on young vulnerable people ?

  21. Hmmn... Have just had a taste of the Appco experience, in the form of two 'job interviews' - the first of which gave a completely misleading impression of the organisation and its activities and the second of which prompted me to get up and leave in the middle of their pitch.

A couple of points. Here, in Manchester, Appco is calling itself RSJ Marketing Services. (I didn't discover that RSJ was part of Appco until the second interview.) And, during the pitch at my second encounter, I couldn't help wondering why, if the guy was making as much money as he claimed he was, he was wearing such a cheap and ill-fitting suit. He claimed that he had been an army captain, with service in Iraq and Afghanistan, until he had seen the Appco light and found the path to unlimited fortune... But I've met a fair few army personnel in my time and I've never met a commissioned officer (or even a squaddie) with such bad physical posture and such a lack of poise.

The job advertisemnt specified a quite generous salary. It was at the point when 'Captain Mark' (no surname, natch) revealed that it was a commission only gig that I walked - so I can't say much more.

I'm going to e-mail the agency which sent me the 'vacancy' expressing my thoughts.

    Others, be warned...

  23. I had a short stint with APPCO Singapore back in 2003/04. Your allegations are untrue. Yes, they do work longer hours as compared to others but they are all self-employed as you have mentioned. The harder you try, you will be rewarded. This is a simple "law of average" rule. But if you prefer to work less, then you must be prepared to earn less too. Banks are public listed companies and charities are governed. Do you think they will tie up with APPCO if your allegations are true? Direct marketing is not for everyone. If things are so simple as you think, all of us will rubbing shoulders with Bill Gates or Warren Buffet.

After I realised what they were and got my interviewer to admit to the affiliation with Appco I told him to cross me off of any lists they have and I know who they are. After i left the office I said out loud to the other people waiting to be interviewed that it's not a real job, run. :) And I ran myself because there was someone coming after me.

  26. My name is Adam Rhodes, and I have recently left Appco after 2 years of great experiences, fun and most importantly, hard times working with them. Within the organisation there is complete transparency, you are told from day one that you are on performance related pay and that the harder/smarter you work, the more you get paid.

Within my first week, I made decent earnings, same again for my second. For my third week I made £35 for around 70 hours work. This educated me immediately on how business works, that there will be times where you have to face challenges head on and that it won't be an easy ride.

Within six months of being within the company, I was already building a team through the business development program, receiving awards for my success within the company and coming out with above average earnings. I was never a "high roller" but I made more money than what I would through employment and the opportunity for progression was always there.

Most importantly, being within the Appco Group educated me on how to take ownership on everything that you do, and if you want to become successful in business, you need to learn how to deal with the bad times in a positive manner.

I now run my own graphic and web design company which is growing faster than I thought it could due to applying knowledge and skills which I learned being within Appco. If it wasn't for working with the people I did during those two years, I wouldn't be in the position I am now due to a complete lack of knowledge, business acumen and most importantly, courage.

If you don't enjoy working somewhere, move on, find something else.

Most importantly, remember that Appco has absolutely nothing to be exposed for. This has become a multi-billion dollar organisation who works with some of the biggest companies in the world. Do you really think Sky, British Red Cross, N-Power to name a few of their UK clients would have thousands of salespeople from a "shifty" company represent them?

The BBC, The Mirror, The Daily/Sunday Telegraph and the New Zealand Herald have written numerous articles about this organization. They are about to be investigated by the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing in N.S.W..

And no the owners aren't in control like this initial blog says and as for not being promoted early etc and not making 250-500 a week I make that every week without fail and I was promoted to be a leader after 1 week I am now building a crew and headed for crew leadership this blog is just ridiculously stupid whoever wrote this blog was obviously shit at sales and couldn't handle the job but ah well it isn't for everyone you clearly haven't got the backbone needed in this game so run back off to tesco sit behind ur checkout making a basic wage n waiting ten years for a promotion and I'll carry on with appco smashing it everyday making as much money as I need or want dictating my own wage and moving up the ladder so I can retire in ten years!!!! Cheerio now

    1. What are you doing writing comments on here at 12pm on a Tuesday? Shouldn't you be at work? What's wrong with working at Tesco? My boyfriend is a Tesco manager, his salary is £38k which is considerably more than the £325 a week average you're boasting about. Have you ever stopped to calculate how much that figure is actually worth? You work a 60 hour week, that works out to £6.20 per hour, my 17 year old Niece earns more than that. Finally is this the attitude you use on the doorstep? Aggressive insults and condescending attitudes are hardly likely to convince anybody to buy anything from you. When salesmen come to my door I slam it in their face but if it was you giving me lip like that I would be sure to place a well aimed punch on that face first.

  40. Hi there! I've noticed this post its quite old but i will like to answer you anyway.I've worked for Appco myself 9 months, which were more than enough to see how it works.
You call them liars when they are not, they just make up reallity, to make the job more atractive, but thats what you call marketing.
Its a though job tho, its not for everyone, but there is a bigger chance of find succsesfull people if they interview everyone, then, the ones that are not made for it, they will just quit, like you did yourself i guess.
About the selfemployment, thast the only part i actually agree, they sell it as a selfemploy bussines, but then you always have to do what the owner tells you. If you think about it tho, the owner just wants the best for you, so they will never ask you for something if its not going to help you grow. You complain about that they get upset if you are late, well, hmm, still a job, you know what i mean? you shouldnt be late because, it doesnt matter if you are selfemployed or not, you still part of a team and of a group, so other people depend of you.
In my opinion, you are just bad at it and like to complain, and also you dont really understand shit of what Appco is all about. But thats just my opinion.
    Best whishes!

  41. I worked in RSJ global marketing in Manchester from March/April-June/July 2014 and decided to leave and move on. I found myself a graduate job and there was no chance I was going to stay at this company.

After going to the initial interview I was lulled into a false sense of security. They didn't mention anything about being self employed or earning commission only. They even failed to mention that you will be doing d2d sales. They will literally employ anyone who walks thru the door (pardon the pun.) But I was desperate for any job as I was finding it difficult to find anything after graduating so I took up the opportunity.

The first day you spend shadowing one of the team "leaders" I use the term lightly as all they care about is the commission they make of your sales. Some of the other team leaders actually care about you but mine was a selfish single minded person. I played along with the game I acted like I was dead keen and I wanted to make a career out of this "Job".

You make £42 a sale but only get paid 70% so £28 a sale until 3 months later where you'd receive the full amount. I am still currently waiting to get paid. Tbf I was quite successful and got promoted to a leader position but was quickly demoted as I was unable to make "meetings". I live over a hour away from Manchester and they expect me to be in the office by 9. For any other job this would not be a problem but when you are coming home every night around 11/12 PM it becomes a problem. They expected me to make it every morning and even offered me a chance to stay in Manchester with some of the other Field reps. But I knew this was just a con to try and get me engrossed as part of the whole con. They'd brainwashed people into giving up their normal day jobs for long hours of walking and minimal pay. They promise quick progression and sell you a pipe dream of becoming a businessman and you can run your own office. There are only about 5 offices in the uk and they have 1000s of employees. How many will make it that far?? They've turned the job into a cult with music playing, ritual dancing and the place is like a scene from the wolf of wall street.

I'd rather work in a call centre then have to walk around in the freezing cold, rain and snow whilst forking out for my own travel. You'll be expected to travel sometimes up to an hour away to territories and it can be quite daunting. This job is not for everybody and my advise would be to avoid it. I did gain some good exp from it tho and it is one of the reasons I manage to get the job I have now. But don't be fooled by the pipe dream they sell and don't look at it as a career option. Only do it for exp as it'll look good on your CV!

  46. Came across this artice while browsing thru the web to see how my ex organisation is doing worldwide now ... i still have tremendous affection fot them having been with Appco in Singapore from 2003 to 2005 . I left as an assistant owner to start my own business which i still do til today. The system and training at appco has instilled in me a positive attitude and values in me til today . i have totally no problem closing a sale now or recruiting people and a lof this thanks to the exposure and training inhad at Appco. I have 3 frds still there after 13 hours now either country heads or VPs in asia. These are university graduates who have given up stable jobs in the rat race in one of the most lucrative n richest countries in the world to go door knocking , street pitching to be there they are today . High class mansions , BMWs , porsches , just to name a few .

All i can say is the organisation has its flaws and honestly 95% of people dont make it ... but isnt it the same for insurance or real estate ? Adverisement might sometimes be misleading .. prob some owewrs could do better .. but if u are a business owner what are u supposed to do ? Adver as "door to door sales, 100% com., 70 hours a week , hard work , etc etc lol .. im sure u knw what im driving at ...

Last thing for pple considering or attempting to go for their interviews ... juz 2 things..

    1. If u take up the job, do it with a mindset of not getting rich , just use it as a training experience to make u a better person career wise .. there are plenty of companies willing to pay top dollar for a highly skilled sales person.. think it CV wise.

    2. If it was a scam, juz take a look at the clientale they have worldwide... major banks, major telcos , major charities , international zoos . Why ? Think about it

    Cheers .

  50. This is pretty straight forward, you can work a 9am-5pm job and earn anywhere between 25K -50K. You can start at entry Level and stay there for the next 10 years of your life with no room to grow or move up in the company. The Idea of "working for yourself and earning "uncapped earnings" with no micromanagement gives you the ability to excel and earn whatever amount you put your mind to earning. You see the problem is people believe they are "entitled" because of this attitude whomever is not seeing the opportunity joins the life long rat race...and good luck for you because the track is filling over. If you would like to see more than 100K in a year that you didn't have to depend on a job for and you did it by earning your way through it independently, then you will understand what writing of various business expenditures is all about. So for all the lazy people, good luck, I can proudly say I'm cashing in 8K a month with ease through working independently.

  51. I recently worked for Titanium Marketing. This blog post is so spot on. I couldn't say it better myself. This is the honest truth. They do brainwash you, especially targeting young graduates like myself. Their job adverts say "Sales Assistant" or ""Sales Assistant (Bar work Ideal)" I thought I was applying for a sales assonant role, and will be trained on the job. I was desperate for money just to pay my rent at the time, and Titanium were the first ones to ring me up to come in for an interview. I was beyond excited... After being greeted with such excitement and being complimented on how I look etc, I thought this place is very friendly and so nice. I felt comfortable and happy. I met the manager; Nick Rees. Who seemed very down to earth, and knew hot to crack a good joke or two. My team leader was a lady called Lisa from Northern Ireland. I was with her on the doors for a solid two days. From 12pm until 9pm at night. I was dying to make my own sales, but sadly she said I wasn't ready yet to pitch perfectly. However, while I was with her on the field, Lisa wasn't doing too brilliantly with sales. In total she only got 2 sales for each day. Which totals to a grand £100. However she willingly get £60 straight away due to the bond system.
In my opinion I didn't think it was worth the time, energy or money. Yes you can earn a lot in a week (if you so really well) However, I do believe it depends who you get on the door, and yourself (if your naturally gifted at this stuff). I wasn't, I liked to talk to people and not to pitch to people. Not to force them into giving money, and I guess that did;t get me far. In total of my 2 days there, I made £30. Weather I will actually see that money by next week.. we shall see.
If you are considering doing this, do it for the experience and the training. The training was the pluses of this job, I learnt so much. But I knew it wasn't right for me.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Adding on to my above comment: After making my fist sale. £30 paid next week and £20 holding bond fee.. I never got the £30. So if you quit, you don't get any money whats ever. Tried to call/message them, no reply. AVOID THIESE IGNORANT PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS.

Hugely valuable experience but probably didn't walk away soon enough. I was a assistant owner until i saved up enough to open up a store I was saving for.
Few things about Appco, yes there is a slim chance you can get to the super high earning brackets and yes when you start off you are most likely earning less than minimum wage.
But its like a education where you still get paid for it.
If you ever want to own a business, working for a office under appco will give you
    1) tough as f*** mentality
    2) interacting with others
    3) if you get to a level, travel and meet others who are as motivated.

End of the day, take what you like and leave the 'negatives' behind.
I sure have, was hard and saw my leader get to ownership. But I wouldnt take back those 3 years for anything as I learnt a great deal from working there.

  65. Hi, Jess from Chamberlains Law Firm here.

I just wanted to comment and let you all know about a class action that we are currently running against Appco Group Australia. We are bringing an action against Appco in Federal court alleging that they have engaged in Sham Contracting and have misclassed employees as 'independent contractors', underpaying them wages and benefits.

We currently have over 1,000 claimants who worked all levels of the Appco structure-- from Independent Contractors right up to Managing Directors. All of them have joined the Appco Class action to get the entitlements they deserve.

If you worked for Appco, you are very likely entitled to compensation, and I'd encourage you to learn more about our class action and get involved. Signing up only takes a moment of your time, and your upfront legal costs are covered by a litigation funder, so you won't ever pay legal costs out of pocket. We have some claimants who want their story told and are interested in media opportunities and the litigation process, and others who, after signing up, want to play a quieter role. Either way, get involved!

You are always entitled to a safe working environment and minimum wage!

You can learn more at appcoclassaction.com.au or ring us at 1300 945 563.

Seven's Sunday Night investigates Appco, a company making a fortune off charity donations

    - Appco fundraising for the Special Olympics resulted in a donation pool of $12 million, and only four per cent of that — yes, four per cent (about $480,000) — went to the Special Olympics, regulators spoke loudly about an inquiry, but then curiously abandoned it.

    - Appco affiliates are now back fundraising for the Special Olympics like nothing ever happened.

    - Many of the 'independent contractors' earn $3 or $4 per hour.

    - The charities get between 4 and 10%.

    - Meanwhile, in 2015 Paul Burkett received a cheque from Appco in excess of a million dollars, as did a handful of other of Appco’s so-called “vice presidents”.

The moral of the story: Don't be sucked in by these dodgy outfits, and be careful with your generosity. READ THE FINE PRINT, as 93% of your hard-earned money may be lining the pockets of these crooks, whilst only a measly 7% gets to the charity.

  69. Former Appco workers expose 'unethical' practices of company making millions from charity donations
Sunday Night on June 18, 2017, 9:20 pm

Australians are being misled into paying millions to Appco, a multi-national company that represents some of our biggest charities, according to a number of former contractors.

VIDEO Show me the money: Part 1

In the past two years Appco has made $100 million from Australian charities through selling merchandise and signing up donors to monthly pledges.

The drive to make money created a culture of bizarre sales rituals, the bastardisation of staff and the "ugly" mockery of the very people the company is raising money for, whistle-blowers have told Sunday Night in a special investigation.

Some of Appco's mega profits come through the work of vibrant young people who many Australians would have encountered door knocking neighbourhoods and fundraising at shopping centres.

"There's a deal done between Appco and the charity, and the money goes back to Appco in a payment form," Alloshe said.

In the first year the amount paid to Appco would be 93 per cent of the donation, with the charity Camp Quality banking only seven per cent.

  70. So, why are you complaining about APPCO? These are the new industrial relations. All other companies should copy appco, and pay their employees $2 an hour and not $4. Is that appco's fault? Or, is it the now non non-existent industrial relations employee policies protecting the employee, like before?
